Ramblings for the week of September 3-9, 2007

Hello all! Congratulations to all whom competed in the Marlton Lakes Tri. After the race, while Dave was cooking hamburgers (Nice!) on Beth grill (Nice!) and in between stories of Shannon's cursing at random people along the course (Nice?), we talked about having one post per week for random chatter and the rest of the postings for noting different events. Here you go, ramble away...

So, did anyone else find a tremendous amount of black guck on the underside of their clothing on Saturday? My formerly white sports bra was grey on the inside, and had to be washed three times to start looking like its former self.

Ah, the joys of open water swimming.

Shannon said...

Context please... grumbling and cursing caused by flat tire frustration on the course... quickly putting the brakes on my blistering race pace. =)

No black stuff but found leaves and twigs inside my suit. Had to use extra fabric softener to get the smell out.

shannon dewey beach is closed there is the navy seal sprint tri on sept 9 in bath pa. any one intersted? 1/4 mile swim. 10 mile bike and 3.1 mile run. Don't know what the course looks like but sent an email to the director.

Hey ladies- my shirt was all brown from the lake, too. Ick! It came out in the first wash, though. (I think.)

If we don't have a moving sale on the 9th, I'd like to do the tri on 9/9...we'll see. I don't mind going out on top, though. ;) I got 3rd in the Athena division.

I'm glad you guys liked the grill!

By the way, Shelly is Michaelle. My family calls me Shelly...

I'd be up for the tri on the 9th.

Also next weekend are two bike events: Scenic Schuylkill Century on Saturday 9/8 and Bike Philly on 9/9, both on www.phillybikeclub.org.

Hey DQ tri group. Some nice pictures of all of us from the race. Michelle you have the best ones. Always smiling in your pictures. Sounds like a lot of stuff going on this weekend. Hard to pick which one to do

=( Sad I can't do the triathlon on Oct 7th (Olympic tri in Pinehurst), but I am glad to finally see another long swim!! Or any of the fun bike rides this weekend (sprint tri in WhiteLake)... have fun and be sure to post humorous post event comments

A tri on Long Island in October. I would think that we would definitely need a wetsuit for that one! That's a little too far out of my traveling range, too. I'm looking for a tri somewhere warm! I'd love to do the Half Ironman in Turks & Caicos on Dec. 1st, but I don't have the vacation time this year. Maybe next year!

Chuck W. said...

Shannon-you talked about some warm weather run in Florida. Can you post that information.

I got my brother to join me on the Art Cycle ride in Doylestown. It must have been the free beer they are offering at the finish line!

Here is the information for the half-marathon I am doing in February... Jacksonville, Florida (cheap flights on southwest)... great training plans and first timer event... there are a couple of folks I know doing the race (even one doing the marathon)... great fun! (or as much fun as a half-marathon/marathon can be!)

PS: the Turks&Caicos half-iron could be my new race for next year!! =)

Bernadette-Did you mean the Bear, DE tri this weekend or the Bath, PA tri on the 23rd?

Shannon said...

BernadetteM said...

who all is doing the art cycle ride. if you are doing it how far are you riding

Chuck W. said...

I believe that the Art Cycle ride is myself, my brother and Deirdre. My brother and I are doing the 38mi. but I don't know how far Deirdre is going.

I have not seen the pictures. Did you post them online?

BernadetteM said...

The pictures I saw are the offical pictures from the Tri. We did not post our pictures yet. Beth how did your pictures turn out.

Beth said...

I checked out the website and saw the results but didn't see the photos. They weren't posted this morning for some reason...or else I just didn't see them.

My pictures are GOOD! I haven't downloaded them off of my camera yet. Maybe I'll do that tonight. I'll print out a copy of at least the group one for each of you, too. I may just put them all up on shutterfly. That seems the easiest way to do it so everyone can see them.

Beth, click on photos on the top of the dq tri home page then click on red/orange square on the right that say race day photo's They didn't have them organized by bib number yesterday I just scrolled through them all. Sorry that we have not all workout together this week. Tough with the holiday and Maggie starting kindergarten. I wasn't planning on riding/swimming Saturday morning since I think that most are either biking or tri-ing on Sunday or participating in a moving sale. For those that are competing in something this weekend-Good Luck. For those that are trying to sell their man-friend's household junk-Good Luck.

Beth said...

Hey Chuck - you're a real comedian! :) I think I got out of the moving sale. He took everything to his sister's or parents' house so this isn't much left to sell!

Good luck to everyone that is riding or 'completing' this week!!

M/W of next week should work for me for the evening runs.

Beth-you will be happy to know that Lizzie is a big Steelers fan too. Last night during the game she wanted to know which team was the Steelers. When I told her the neither team was the Steelers, she asked to watch a "kids show".

BernadetteM said...

I decided to do the Art cycle ride. Chuck and Deirdre hope I see you at the start. My plan so far is to do the 20 but it depends on how I'm feeling. Good luck to everyone else this weekend

Beth said...

Chuck, that is awesome! I knew I liked Lizzie for a reason...not just because she's so darn cute. GO STEELERS!
