New Jersey State Tri

I thought a new post was in order... Good luck tomorrow! I'm looking forward to hearing all the details.

Also - let's try to get together for another happy hour and/or dinner so we can catch up.

A get together sounds like fun. Beth you had mentioned after She Rox next Sunday but I hope we are down the shore. We are still hunting for a place so if we get one we will be heading down there after the race. If we don't go then maybe a Perk day (Chuck if it is okay) might be fun Good Luck Shannon and Michelle

Getting together would be fun... I miss you guys! Race today was fun... I highly recommend it next year... lots of people, but lots of space. I was very sore from my 15mile run yesterday (my hips, knees and ankles had not forgiven me by race time), but surprisingly my run time was the highlight of the race (swim was good and bike was fine)... but I averaged 10:30s on the 5K... which was much faster than I planned... once I assessed I was only sore and not in pain from an injury, I opted to run the whole thing instead of walk since running would get it over faster! =) I missed placing by just 3seconds... owell... such is life... I am just excited I don't run again until Tuesday! =)

I'm out...too close to the wedding.

Good job on your race! You've got to let T3 know when you do races so you get on the race report!

So - my estimate was at least $4,000 and 5 to 10 biz days in the shop! I'm driving a gray Dodge Caliber until I get my baby back. I'm not a fan of cars that look like boxes!

Have a good week!

I was on the first email from T3 of folks who were doing the race... but not on the most recent... I could email the group and say 'hey, I did the race too!' but don't really care about it that much...I also was listed by DC Tri club as doing the race... my multiple personalities... so in theory... my clubs won the championship and came in third... sounds like a good day! =)

Not sure if the news has spread, but a man died yesterday at the triathlon... never came out of the swim... he was in the wave ahead of Michelle and two ahead of me. =(

Maybe this was covered before, but I just saw the photo of us at the Philly tri this year. Why is Chuck wearing an orange shirt?

Apparently someone died in the NY Tri, too. Had a heart attack...probably in response to all the jellyfish stings! I'm glad you two ladies made it out OK!

Thanks, Beth. My biggest challenge in the water was swimming around all the kayaks that came into the swim lane to pick up swimmers.

I was wearing an orange shirt because I had already gone into the transition area and changed my shirt. I did not realize that we were going to take a formal group picture. My race jersey was soaked at the end of the race.

I am going to ride (1hr) and run (1/2 hr) tonight starting at 6:30pm. If anyone is joining me, I will meet at Spring Mill.

I have childcare coverage for Thursday too. If you all want to meet for a run and/or a beer afterwards, let me know.

Thursday works better for me. We have a dance lesson tonight.

wow, sounds like a really good race (someone drwoning and all that) can't wait to do it next year. Drowning is my worst fear. esides the drowning was it a good race? Did you guys get good stuff from the race? We got a place down the shore so will be leaving from She Rox for Ocean City. Why were there so many kayaks in the water? Was it a rough swim? How was the bike course? Shannon, miss you too. Let us know when you will be up again.

Scrapped the run portion of last night's workout when I got out of the office later than I wanted. I am still trying to figure out how to get from the trail through Manayunk and down to the trail that runs along Kelly Drive. Last night I made it to Main Street @ Bourbon Blue before turning around. Too many cars on the road on Main Street @ 7ish competing for space. Is there a road I was supposed to turn onto to get to the river or am I supposed to continue on Main Street?

Is anyone doing Kings Grant on 8/10?

Chuck, You keep going down the road, past the Brew Pub, past the CVS, past the movie theater, and then stay to the right (or get on sidewalk) when the road intersects with Ridge. You go down Ridge a little, then you take a sharp right onto Kelly Drive (green road sign point to it, too). I'd be very careful if you're on the road because that's a dangerous place to be sharing the road with cars. If you can manage it, stay on the sidewalk/bike path.

Thanks Beth. I think that in the future I will leave that ride for Saturday/Sunday mornings. It got a bit hairy when I got onto Main Street, which is why I turned around. I did like the hill climbs that it added to the workout.

Michaelle is doing Kings Grant... I did it last year and really liked it... haven't decided if I am doing it this year... very short and easy course.

I loved the course on Sunday... there were kayaks on the course/in the way because a number of swimmers freaked out... some managed to get to the boats while others needed the boats to come to them. The bike course was great... flat and fast. The run was really nice too... flat and a nice balance of shade/sun.

Be careful on those bike rides Chuck... cars vs. bikes is not a good match-up.

Why were the swimmers freaking out? conditions or were they just typical people from New Jersey?

Typical triathlon swimmer freak-outs... coupled with folks from NJ... whoa! =)
