I hope that all had a good weekend. It felt like I spend mine either in the car or eating at a picnic. I did not bring my bike because they called for rain, but I was able to run once. I hope you all were more productive.
Apparently I missed the deadline for participating in the Philadelphia Women's Triathlon this weekend, so I will be volunteering at the body mark/water exit. Hopefully when my volunteerin' duties are done, I will head over to the finish line to cheer my lady friends on.
I am planning on a 30-45 min ride/30 min run on Tuesday this week starting at Spring Mill around 6:30pm. If any one is interested in joining, please let me know. If you are just interested in joining for either the ride or the run, we can accommodate that too.
I will work on getting a Saturday morning workout together too. Usually the earlier the better, assuming I have childcare in place. I will let you know.

Hi Chuck! Welcome back from the burgh. I'll probably be up for a ride and run tomorrow. All I did this weekend was a couple of short runs. The sun hardly came out all weekend. It was actually kind of depressing. I did get a lot done around the house, though!
Shannon - am I helping you at the USAT table on Saturday? I haven't heard a peep from Michelle.
Yes... according to the email I got last week... you are scheduled to work registration (including USAT) with me starting at 11:45... which is actually 15minutes before packet pick-up begins. I will forward you the email/attachments when I get back from work today... although I may be able to access it from here... which means you would get it sooner.
I agree... the weather was no fun this weekend!! That did give me little excuse to not work on stuff for my comp exam in the fall... but I would have rather been at the pool or on my bike. I have been running... =(... with swims on Mon/Wed. Yesterday was supposed to be my big bike ride, but the weather did not play nice...so I rode the bike in the gym during the Olympic trials (doesn't that seem much more intense and athletic... I thought so!) I had a ten mile run on Saturday... which was not fun... I waited until the rain stopped in the morning, but that meant sunny, humid yuck!! OWELL...
I'm excited to head back to Philly this weekend... yeah, triathlon!
Shannon-are you going to do the Annapolis Tri? If not, any chance you could factor that into one of your training programs/scouting missions to see what the course is like?
I ordered the Philly Tri group picture today and will let you all know when the picture comes in.
Not much rain in Pittsburgh and very little humidity. We stayed at the Major's grandmother's house in Sewickely (sp?). I was able to walk out of her front door and run around town which is nice. It isn't something that I can do here for safety reasons.
I am not doing Annapolis because it is the week before Nation's... BUT... will be there to cheer folks on... and I can of course do a scouting mission... a) because it is close to me and b) folks from the DC tri club have scouting it one of the two upcoming weekends... =)
I am playing around with the idea of doing the Northeast triathlon (CGI) the weekend of August 17... probably the sprint distance. Hmmm... we shall see!
Thank you Scout Shannon! As for the Northeast Triathlon, I don't know if I can fit another event onto the Wurzbach calendar in August.
Seriously, people...how do you fit all this stuff in? I can't train for another race...I hardly trained for PWT and it's this weekend! Ugh. Weddings, dance lessons, training...who has the time? I've only got room in the schedule for about one a month...so I might have room in August but no more room after Marlton Lakes. And I'm sticking to the sprints from now on.
Looks like no rain in the forecast today, so I will finally get a chance to take the bike out of the garage! Mounted my bike rack to the truck last night, so I now feel like a real cyclist. Not as easy as Beth's to tie the bikes down, but does have a padlock system so that I can leave a bike on the rack without worrying too much that someone would steal it.
Saturday morning I have to attend Chloe's 6th Birthday Party at 11:30 am. So if we want to bike/swim/run, I need to start early, 7:30-8ish. Thoughts?
I'm taking it easy on Saturday since I'll be doing the swim/bike/run thing on Sunday and would like fresh legs.
I'll see about coming out tonight, though, because I need to get on my bike. I'll just tell you now that the run is going to be horrible because of how humid it is...what is it, 200% humidity??
I wouldn't say I have been training for PWT... but sprint races are fun, social workouts... since each race is different, I find it almost impossible to compare times... unless I've done the race before... which lessens the performance pressure even more! I can't see myself doing North East Maryland Olympic... mostly because my biking is practically non-existent at this point... thank goodness Nation's bike course is friendly! I am also excited that mileage for marathon training is low this week... I have to run tonight (since i was lazy and didn't get up this morning!) and it is going to be nasty here as well... I would hope for thunderstorms, but that just means I have to run on the treadmill! =(
Have fun with the new bike tonight Chuck... =) I need to ride my bike a little on Saturday (I am guessing before registration) since I changed tires last weekend in preparation for Sunday's ride that never happened... I want to make sure that I put the race wheels back on correctly... although that could be funny on Sunday...
Hey, all. I did 20 miles at Oaks on Saturday, and ran on Sunday but punked out yesterday - GI issues. However, I'm not eating much, so that's a good thing!
It's time to start training for Annapolis, and according to the plan for the Philly Tri I'm supposed to be doing hours of work each day - like 60 minute run, 30 minute swim. OK, 1.5 hours of work. Chuck, just sign up. Shannon said it's a beautiful town. And you know you want to swim in the Cheasepeake (?).
Annapolis is a beautiful town. When is that race?
How about we do the Pittsburgh Tri next summer? It's July 20th this year.
Annapolis is September 7th. I got a message back from one of the PTC guys that said the run is not hilly nor pancake flat. I would assume that it is less hilly than Blackbear but more than Philly Tri. I will take it before the Wurzbach subcommittee on Triathlon Affairs for approval and will let you all know.
I am up for the Pittsburgh Tri in 2009.
Hey Chuck - I think I'm in for a workout tomorrow after work. If you have happy hour plans, then it's no big deal. I'm not riding/running for long. Maybe 30/30 like I would have done the other day. Let me know if you or anyone else is up for it!
Crazy day... offices at work were broken into last night... so I came into to work greeted by cops, crime scene folks, ransacked offices etc. Has made for an interesting morning to say the least...and I was all chipper this morning since today is my day off for the week... yippie!! (The only sad thing about today being a day off means tomorrow is my long run for the week... boo!!) Hope everyone is doing well... I'm excited to see folks on Saturday & Sunday...
Annapolis is September 7th. I'm up for Pittsburgh next year - I've never been there.
Anyone working out Saturday morning? Not too hard, because as Beth points out that's a pretty good workout on Sunday.
Number of times Shannon's workplace was ransacked by thieves in Philadelphia: 0. I'm just saying...
I am out for a Friday after work workout. I am not "scheduled" to work on Fridays and will probably try to do my workout in the morning, when I feel the strongest (and have already paid for childcare). Then I have to head to the office for some un-scheduled work (but billable).
I know that while you ladies are semi-tapering Saturday, I apparently can not race on Sunday (legally). I plan on doing an early morning long bike ride (thinking either house to Collegeville and back)or Spring Mill to Art Museum and back. Then I have to head to Chloe's party (it is going to Miley Cyrus rock!).
If I don't see you on Saturday, look for the really athletic man with the permanent marker Sunday morning. I will probably be the guy standing right next to him.
Hey girls, wet suit or no wet suit this Sunday?
I am guessing no wetsuit... and have been planning for it... and since the race is short... it seems to make the most sense.... will have to wait and see water temp...
I'll probably bring my wetsuit but doubt I'll wear it.
No problem-o about the workout. I'll just do my workout at lunch and maybe I'll actually go to a happy hour!
We just got home from the Reading Phillies game...my goodness that game was long! But the fireworks rocked.
Shannon, I hope you carry pepper spray!
Looking forward to seeing everyone Saturday/Sunday, too!
So - I punked out on my workout at lunch and went to the Continental Midtown instead. mmm mmm, good!
And I'm going to happy hour tonight! Woohoo! I guess I'll do something light tomorrow morning.
I am going to do a light bike ride around the loop tomorrow before working registration... if you want to join me... that is assuming I get my punk a$$ out of bed and get to Philly on time... I have an indoor soccer game at 9:50pm tonight... one in which I planned on just watching, but it turns out that the team is short... whoa! =)
