Last year I participated in the Run the Ben Franklin 10K and had a great time... it is on Nov 2 this year and I am going to run it again (it will actually be the FIRST time I put on my running shoes after the marathon... my training plan has me running 6miles that day... guess I will walk that .2)

Hey gang,
Nov 2nd is my birthday! I'm probably going to spend that Sunday sleeping in! ...and recovering from my honeymoon!
M & B, thanks for coming on Saturday night. I hope you had fun! Those comedians were funny! We went to a couple places to dance but the DJs stunk. We still had a good time, though!
Chuck - Danelle and I are running at 6:30 pm tonight if you're interested in meeting us.
The MS150 was a great success.
Bernadette rode the full 75 miles to the shore this year. We stopped at last years crash site and took a picture. Then Bernadette got a ride home because she wanted to attend Beth's bachelette party. Saturday's weather was not bad.
I stayed at my Aunt's house Saturday night then rode back with our American Infrastructure bike team on Sunday. It drizzled parts of the ride home but I got more wet from water spraying up from the bike tire I was following in the pace line. It wasn't bad because the temperature was warm. Three miles out from each rest stop another bicyclist and I broke away from the pack in a race to the finish. Each time I was able to stay with the other rider or beat him. The last sprint into the finish line had a small but steep hill 100 yards before the finish, we were racing side by side until we hit the hill when I then stood on the pedals and charged up the hill. I heard a faint "ugh" and I new I had him. After the finish I asked him his age. He responded 22 then asked me my age. When I said 51 (and that was all I could say while trying not to show him I was sucking wind) his head dropped in amazement and he said I hope I can still ride like that when I am 51. My other team mates (most of them were around my age) congratulated me and were glad I was able to humble the young buck. I then drove home and felt good enough to go for a short run. My legs feel great but my rear has some saddle sores. I told Bernadette the sores were from sitting on the bike for so many hours on the ride down to the shore on Saturday. Now my arm hurts.
Congrats on what sounds like a gret ride Dave... and Bernadette... for rocking all 75miles!! =)
Glad to hear you wild ladies had fun at Beth's fiesta... once my comprehensive exams are done (2weeks and counting!)... I want to come visit and definitely owe Beth a couple of beers... going out post wedding will be even better... no calories to worry about!! =)
I am on week #2 in Houston. The destruction in Galveston is amazing. I didn't really think about it too much until you see boats, really big boats, in the middle of the highway.Standing in line at Starbucks waiting for my coffee, I was the only one of 5 people who's house wasn't destroyed (they were all talking about what was left). I am spending my days driving around the area, meeting, working, eating and heading back to the hotel.
I hope to run tomorrow, but I doubt it. So much for my preparing for the Philly 1/2 Marathon...
Hey all, I forgot my password so needed to use Dave's. Beth, in case we don't get to talk to you before the wedding, have a wonderful time. It's almost here and we are so very happy for you. What is the name of the Church you are getting married at. The pictures of the party are great. Looked like you all had a great time. Sorry to leave so early but i was beat after the 75 miles that day.
Shannon, Hope school is going good and hope to see you soon.
Michelle, Thanks for letting me change at your house the day of the party. Good luck with your friend. Let me know how things are going.
Chuck, are you back yet. What are the girls being for Halloween this year?
Working on my running. Still waiting for the endorphins to kick in and make it more fun.
See ya soon.
Bernadette
Beth: Best wishes for your wedding day and honeymoon!
Signed up for the bridge run on 11/2. Anyone else?
Training is pretty lacksadaisical. Only running 3 times per week, though I need to swim a few times before Sunday.
Things are going well with my neighbor, Ralph, who (whom?) I have a crush on. Yes, you can get back the feelings of a 16 year old after 50, which is just frightening ...
What's up with everyone else?
Hello Everyone...
I am taking a break from my comprehensive exams... UGH!! I like breaks!! I can't imagine having to do this boring school crap before the internet... what would I waste time with??
Beth... HAVE AN AMAZING WEDDING!!! Take lots of pictures and let's plan a post HM Happy Hour... beginning at 12:01pm on Monday... I am all SORTS of free (at least for the next 4-6 weeks... which is the amount of time I am rewarding myself with before beginning to work on my dissertation proposal)
Yes... I am singing childish songs about Michaelle's crush!! =)
I am running on 11/2... I should say that I will try to run... since it will be my first post-marathon run. Good times!! I am excited about my between marathons training because I am contemplating the idea of only running 3 days a week with 3 days of cross training... dare to dream!! I promise it gets better Bernadette!! =)
I am not able to do Nov. 2. Shannon-best of luck at the MCM!
