Ramblings for the week of September 10th-16th, 2007

Hello all! I hope that everyone had a great weekend. Kudos to Shannon for the excellent news of her TriTrip to North Carolina. It's good to know that she wasn't cursing out the her fellow participants.

The Art Cycle ride was hard but a lot of fun. I am glad that I got my brother out to join in and congratulations to Bernadette for going the 38 mi. course instead of the 20 mi. course. Apparently some jokesters decided to paint over one of the direction notices on the course, so instead of doing 38 miles, we (and a lot of other people) did 41.5 mi. I think that the last 4 miles were all up hill. One of the items in the freebie bag was a clip-on lip balm holder. When exactly is one supposed to use this?

I am trying to run on Monday and Wednesday of this week. Let me know in that post if you can attend. Also, are there any organized bike rides out there for this coming Saturday morning that you all are aware of?

Ramble on...

Again... clarification... I only cursed out the perky, skinny girl who had already finished Marlton Lakes and on her 'cool-down' ran part of the run course to cheer folks on... AND i didn't curse her out to her face... only to Michaelle... who was acting as a buffer between us so I wouldn't go crazy and tackle her. =)

PS: the calm and gentle south clearly brings out the lady in me!

GREAT job with the rides today!!! I would definitely be up for a ride next Saturday!!

Hi 'Team-let',

I planned to do the Art Cycle 63 but being brain-dead at 5:45 am, I tried to get to Doylestown via Trenton & Rt 1, arrived about a 1/2+ late so missed riding with friends. They called from the rest stops ahead of me which kept me going, till after the last rest stop where the foolish ride markers gave me a short cut opportunity. I took it. The sun was high and my legs were shot and it cut the 63 to 55, which at that point it was a MOST excellent idea. I saw Bernadette at the end and swapped a very sweatie hello...

Yes, I plan to run tonight, 7pm Consh. C-U There!!

Can't run on Wednesday because I don't think I can get out of class and to the train station in time.

I too would also be interested in an organized ride on Saturday, but if one does not exist, I plan on riding for about 2hours and running after (or at least that is what I am supposed to do according to activetrainer.com in order to get ready for the olympic tri in october) Anyone interested?

Hey Chuck - thanks for returning the grill. I honestly can't remember if I showed Shannon the shelves. I did look into it and if I want to replace the shelf, it's only about $14. Since I was on the Coleman website, I noticed that they have a griddle that I could get so maybe after an early race, we can make pancakes. :)

What's up with the grill shelves? I can't remember talking about shelves...just the how to connect the propane and how to carry with the handles... but I just could be blanking out. Did something bad happen?? =(

Beth said...

I guess I forgot to tell you that there were two shelves underneath that pull out so you can set food or your utensils there. Like on a normal grill, there are trays on each side. These just slide underneath when you store the grill. There are now three little melted circles where the flames must have been on top of the shelf. I can still use the shelf, it's just not perfect anymore.

Shannon said...

Oh no... that's no good! I am sorry. Can buy new shelves online at the Coleman website? If so, I want to get them for you...

Beth-order the shelf replacement that you need and we will compensate you for that. I hope that it was cleaned to proper Formensky standards as that was my job.

I am traveling to Idaho on Thursday and getting home on the red-eye Saturday morning. If the group wants to do our normal Saturday workout, let me know. I will be carting the kids along on this one. I saw Shannon's suggestion of the ride in NJ, but I am not carting the rugrats for 40 mi (this Idaho meeting was requested yesterday). I doubt they will sit in the cart for 3+hours. The Perk houses are mostly closed up and I can check on the use of the bathroom facilities.

Hey Chuck - I didn't see how clean it was last night because it was dark, but I assume you did a good job!

I'll be in Maryland for my cousin's wedding this weekend so I won't be able to join you again. Depending on when my football game is on the 22nd, I might be able to go for a ride that day. But then I'm on vacation from the 23rd to the 29th. Eric thinks he's going to have me doing sprints and running in the sand in the Outer Banks. (He's crazy!)

Have fun in Idaho!

I'll look into the grill parts. I might be able to find them at the store and then not have to pay S&H.

How about the covered bridge ride in October. Here is some info that I got today. Would like to ride this weekend. God Bless AMerica

Enjoy the beautiful fall foliage of Central and Upper Bucks County in
Pennsylvania. Travel through up to six historic covered bridges on the 27th
Annual CBBC Covered Bridges Ride.
This is THE premier cycling event in scenic Bucks County. Join over 2000
riders from all over the northeastern United States and ride through some
of the most beautiful areas in this part of the world. The ride concludes
with a Grande Finale Picnic.

ALL. Sorry for not responding sooner. The fall is my time with the girls high school soccer team. My team is alraeady 5 - 0. We have practices or games every day of the week. The away games start by catching a 2:00 bus then we play back to back Varsity / JV games then bus ride home returning to school at 9:00.
I am also a referee assignor so I then make phone calls assigning referees for the next weekend games. I am also a referee so I usually ref 4 games on Saturday then another 4 games on Sunday. During the other hours I try to be father and husband, train on the bike and I do also have a job.

Beth, Please order the replacement shelves. I will pay for them. I am so sorry for the problem. You were very generous to let us borrow the grill.

Keep on training Tri-Gang. I can't wait to get back into the training groove. I do want to do a distance run later in the season. I must increase my running because I want to do a couple of Half Ironmans next year.

Beth said...

I wish I could do that covered bridge ride...it sounds amazing. Unfortunately, I will be studying for my next Actuarial Exam. I'll probably miss a lot of the weekend rides because of it. I'm going to have to start trailing back the weeknight runs, too.

I want to do only one half ironman next year so I definitely need to keep up with the training! What are we going to do when it gets too cold outside?

Beth said...

Chuck, are we on for tonight? 5:30?

Chuck W. said...

Yes. I would like to run this evening at 5:30pm. I also have to give you the tank value for your grill which is sitting on my kitchen counter.

See you then.

Beth said...

I'm sure I would have figured that out sooner or later. I'm glad it's sooner and not later! I'll see you there at 5:30.

Dave-Congratulations on the soccer team's early success. It must be all the jumping jacks!
