It is race time! Thanks to all that came out today to bike/swim. It required a cast of goofballs like you all to convince me that jumping in the water was acceptable. I am glad that I got the sensation of swimming in colder water before the race. After the initial shock to the face, it didn't seem to be that bad. I might go again on Wednesday or Friday after work (6:25pm) depending on the schedule. I know for myself, getting out there in the open water was important. I also appreciated swimming without the chlorine taste in my mouth. Dave & Bernadette-please thank your son for coming out and playing the lifeguard.
I will post tomorrow what my accommodation situation is. There was some talk about food and stuff for Saturday/Sunday. I will let everyone kick that around so we can make sure that we don't end up with 14 bags of Stacy's Pita Chips and the remainder of Beth's keg. My usually dinner before the race consists of Buffalo wings, a dozen oysters, two cans of baked beans and an entire canister of Ovaltine washed down with a six pack of Genesse Cream Ale, but don't let that influence the team's choices.
I am off to shave my legs.

Speaking of food, this crowd never seems too picky. We'd make a great feast of 12 bags of chips and the remains of the keg.
And speaking of workouts this week, I'll relate what Shannon said to me the week before Pine Barrens (vis-a-vis taper): this is just your weekend workout. Why would you taper?
Shaving? What about waxing?
I won't be coming up to Conshy to run tonight. I realized that I could better use that time to eek out a few more trips with Shannon's car - after a run in S. Philly of course.
Count me in for tonight. I have to be quick though. I need to start running by 6 and be done and on my way home by 6:30. I might go early and run a mile before you get there so I can hightail it out of there. I have to be showered and ready to go to the movies by 7 pm!
As for this weekend - I have less and less buns to bring but I don't think you'll have to worry about the keg. Eric should have returned it today.
I have about 8-10 hamburgers and a package of hotdogs I can bring, buns, and about 7 or 8 hoagie rolls. 1 bag of Doritos. I usually eat chicken and carbs the night before a race so I make sure to get my protein.
Dave - do you know if there will be a grill?
I am not going to eat for the whole week... that way my body can hopefully begin eating itself and maybe I can make it up the hills... =)
I can probably survive for the next month on everything I ate this past weekend! I almost had cake for breakfast this morning!
I forgot to mention that I'll be bringing some beer. I have some Yuenling and Coronas I think. Can someone bring lite beer?
I'm going to let my peeps know about the Thursday night run at Spring Mill. We'll see if anyone shows up!
The Wurzbach girls will not be coming up to Black Bear this weekend. I talked to Dave last night and he will be sending out an email with the details for the house here soon. For the record, running last night was not fun. The humidity was so bad that it felt like I was breathing through a straw. If that is what the raceday conditions are going to be, well, we are in for a long day.
For Saturday, I will bring some light beer, oatmeal, honey, napkins and paper towels.
The below website has some information about Snow Ridge Village. I hope it works.

I will try to call today to ask some questions. Do they have a grill? What kind of cooking supplies are available? Do we need bed linens? Do you have other questions?
Are hot men (foreign accents a plus) available for pre and post race massages? =)
Oh and on a less serious note... although I haven't checked website so my question may be answered)...proximity to grocery store?
good call shannon!
Questions for the condo assn: where's the hot tub? massage oil? Are there shot glasses? laundry machines? Soap for laundry machines and dish washer? Other soap?
I wrote a whole comment, and it disappeared into the signon miasma.
I'll bring: bran flakes, granola, soy milk, 6-pack of lite beer, 2 quiches, bacon, potato salad.
If we want to grill veggies or fish, I'll bring the basket thingie.
I got a stomach ache running last night and had to walk home, because it kept getting worse. I blame the heat. Today will be better.
I am still planning my menu for the weekend... wanted to wait to be inspired by Top Chef tonight! =)
What's the word with running tomorrow? 6pm? who's in?
Chuck- we should have swam on Tuesday night and ran last night. I think we would have had a much better time! I'm in for tonight. I'll probably swim first so I don't get stuck in the traffic on 23 between my house and Spring Mill.
It is not nearly as humid today, thankfully. The run tonight is on at 6pm. I am going to attempt 4 miles myself.
Did the email I sent yesterday get delivered to all of you?
I am told that the condo has a full kitchen with cooking supplies and eating hardware. Bed linens are included. NO Grill and we may not be able to use our own. Washer and dryer are included, they did not know about the soap. The women said to google about a local grocery store??? I think she is in Maryland.
At present, Bernadtte and I are going up to Beltzville Park on Saturday for expo, packet pickup and 3:00 meeting. Then to Snow Ridge Village for check-in.
Let me know if this works for everyone or if you have other ideas or questions.
Works for me. Just let me know about bringing my grill.
Can someone bring condiments for burgers?
I can bring condiments! Along with other random things... I am heading out for a 2hr bike ride and will be ready to run at 6pm... I get my new fancy tires put on the bike tomorrow... gives me extra gears for the hills and clearly adds cool points. I'll be the loser with the fancy, expensive tires that can't pedal up the hill and hurts myself.
Shannon, no bad juju with that negative talk! Remember, I climb fast and lightly - or something like that.
I have all kinds of food I ordered from the happy food people - olive bread, tofu, feta cheese... some zucchini & green pepper. I'll discuss with Shannon what will fit in the car.
Beth - Bring the grill if you have room in the car, we will make the call about usage when we see the layout of the condo, patio / deck / balcony. I hope it works.
Bernadette and I swam in her sister's pool tonight. Water was 70. Not cold enough to simulate the Beltzville lake but a good workout.
If you have any questions my cell is 267-474-9587.
I swam at the PSC last night and it felt like bath water. It was almost disgusting how warm it was. I think I am taking the time to do the practice swim before the race so I don't freeze in panic from the water temps!
I'll bring the grill. I just need to pick up another little gas thingy. I'm almost out.
Hi all. Are we wearing TNT clothes?Dave has a shirt for me so we can all match. Is everyone bringing there favorite breakfast food? Pasta for dinner on Saturday?
I'm wearing my TNT shirt. We need a new picture for the blog!
(I'm bringing my camera!)
