Congrats! =)

Just wanted to say CONGRATS to everyone on an excellent day... we certainly are a pretty amazing group of people (if I do say so myself!)... think about how far things have come since last year... how many triathlons are you doing this season Bernadette? A half-iron in the near future, long runs, pounds lost, speed increased etc... While some have perhaps referenced a nagging-drill serg. when speaking of me... its only because of the motivation and good times you all provide that make me want to workout... =)

Okay... enough sappy BS... get back to running, biking and swimming and no lame 'I'm sore cause I ran Broad street' excuses! =)

What if we are sore because of Broad Street? Should we not post that, Sarge?

Shannon said...

I don't you think you got it... you are not sore... end of story! =)

I just wanted to pass along my appreciation to the team for the friendly inclusion of my friends Matt and Megan at Sunday's run. I know the information passed along at the expo and the pre-race group gathering helped keep all relaxed. Matt has emailed me to see if I was interested in doing the Philly Distance run.

Speaking of future races, what is everyone planning on for July and August? Anyone doing the DQ events at Vincetown and Marlton Lakes?

Beth said...

Marlton is a yearly thing for me so I will definitely be doing that one.

Not too sore today...just achey knees. I'll do spinning tomorrow and ease into running again on Thursday.

I'm going to add Michelle B to the blog. :)

Besides Philly Women & SheRox... doing some of those DQ sprints would be fun... I have the Nation's Tri in Sept... (sounded good at the time, we'll see how it goes come Sept)

Great running on Broad Street everyone!

Black Bear Weekend. I got the rental at Blakeslee (Poconos) for the gang. We can arrive Friday night and we have the place for a week at ~$250 total, to be divided per person. Bernadette and I are two. Place sleeps 6. Please let me know who else is in.

Rested Monday, rode bike to work on Tuesday then ran a 2 mile brick after I rode home. Riding bike to work on Wednesday then swimming at night. I must start doing longer rides, (50+ miles). See you Saturday at TNT practice. I will ride to Phila, ride with team, then ride home.

I'm in for the cabin... making sure Michaelle cancels the other reservation...

I'll cancel the Split Rock Reservation, so count me in! I'll assume it's OK with Beth too.

Will we invite the Wurzbach's over for dinner? Shall we have a birthday party?

Sunday was awesome. I can't imagine a better group of companions for these adventures! Support, motivation, entertainment all included.

I'm planning on signing up for the Distance Run also. And, according to Coach Shannon, we need to start including 10 mile runs as part of our prep for a half-marathon.

Thanks for the credit... but wouldn't want to be called a thief (must be my academic honestly kicking in...)... real credit goes to J.Galloway & H. Higdon...I don't write the training plans... just follow them and guilt others into doing the same!

10 miles already? Aren't we suppose to do that like 8 weeks out? It really was much easier when all I was concerned about was which bar had better chicken wings and colder beer.

Dave-how close is the cabin to the race? The family and I will still be staying at Split Rock, but might want to "borrow" a shower/post-race bbq if it seem feasible. Oh wait-aren't you doing a 1/2 tri? You better have your act together because I don't know how long I can keep the girls interested in the race until "Mr. Dave" crosses the finish line...

Good Luck on your test Beth!! =)

Good Luck Beth.

Can someone provide a little guidance with regard to the "MS 150" races? A buddy of mine from CT wants to come down in July and do the PA Dutch race. When I went to the registration page, the registration fee is $40ish and then there is a projected donation amount. Am I required to raise $X amount or is the minimum the registration fee?

Also, on Saturday the Philly Tri Club is having an open water swim gathering at Lake Wenonah. It starts at 10 am. I am trying to figure out what the weather is going to be, but if it seems likely that it will be raining when the TNT team is supposed to be biking, I am going to the swim. I am leaning towards the swim either way because it is an area that I know I need improving. They are also working with CGI for a bike or run that day too afterwards if there is interest. Let me know and I will forward to you the link.

FYI-Shannon's boytoy Paul may not be attending (sorry!)

Shannon said...

damnit!! Because the CGI swim was canceled yesterday... I missed Paul this week.

Please forward information to me about Saturday...

also, HighRoads & Todd are having the Nockamixon (sp?) open swim practice/clinc on Sunday

Hey gang - thanks for the luck. My test went pretty well. I haven't felt decent after an exam in awhile so I hope that means I passed!

I went to the orthpedic dr yesterday. No injuries showed up on the MRI but he could feel that there was a lot of "junk" around my knee. (And that I wasn't making up my injury just to see my cute doctor.) :) So one cortisone shot later and I'm out of the running group for at least two weeks. My doctor is cool - he ran Broad Street, too. Looks like he did it in 1:26:40. Go Doc!

I won't be at practice tomorrow b/c I'm flying down to North Carolina to see my nephews. I'll be back late Wednesday then I'll start back at the gym with upper body only and then maybe the elliptical and bike for a week before I can run again. I'm going to have to focus on my swimming since that's my weakness right now!

Count me in on the house in Blakeslee. Do they have a grill there? I can bring mine if not...but I'm hoping they have one! Do we need to bring sheets, etc? I think a cooler of beer is in order, especially after Dave finishes a Half! Dave - you are an inspiration!

OK gang - I'm off to do some packing...and get to Friday night dinner! Have a great weekend!

Hi all,I am looking to borrow a wet suit for Black Bear. Does anyone know of one I could borrow? Did anyone do the open water swim today? Was the water cold? Race for the cure was fun. Chuck when we did the MS 150 last year there was a minumum $250 we each had to fund raise. Don't know if the Lancaster MS 150 has the same rules. Good luck with that. Have a good week all.

Shannon said...

Michaelle and I did the swim... water was cold, but not horrible... similar to to lake in NJ last week.... swam the course 3x... I like swimming there... sucks it is not open normally to the public.

You could try one of my two wetsuits (if you think they will not be too big etc)...I got my second one from wetsuitrental.com... rented it for St.A's, but liked the sleeveless so I bought it cheap from them... renting is only $40... let me know if you want to try one of mine...

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

Shannon, I would like to try a wet suit. Thanks for the offer.

Hey gang - I'm back! I think it's time for a new post!

Hello everyone. Hope all are well. Trying to get ready for Black Bear. Does anyone know where I could do an open water swim this weekend? Chuck, what is the temperature of the perkiomen?

Shelly said...

Shannon and I are doing the sprint tri at Pine Barrens. It starts at 9 am, and they probably wouldn't notice you in the water. Shannon tells me it's got really poor management, with them handing out tshirts from other events.

Shannon said...

I prefer the term 'low key' as opposed to poor management... that what some folks last night told me about the race when they did it... distances were measured 'by best guess'(look at the Olympic distance race they are holding in the fall... it is not really Olympic distance... the swim is too far, but the bike and run are too short--- meaning they are chill-laxed)... and shirts were random... but they liked the race alot....

Chuck W. said...

I don't know the temp, but it is about 3 feet about normal level because of the rain. I am going to see if I can get a pool thermometer today and measure the temp. If it is warm enough, I may suggest a Thursday swim.

Good Luck to those heading to the DQ event today.
