Are we really post season?

I had expected Beth to post by now, with our new Marlton photo... It was nice to see Chuck and Beth (with contingent) yesterday. It brought home the realization that there will be no more swimming in the Perkiomen Creek for awhile.

Has anyone considered joining a master's swim team? There seem to be quite a few going, especially NW of Philadelphia. Any thoughts?

We should pick a date in late October/early November to get together. Sometime when the out-of-towners feel like coming in.

Anyone want to join me in volunteering for Nation's Tri? LBI? Another DQ tri on 10/12?

Shelly, What are the dates of the events you are thinking to volunteer at? How was Marlton? I wish we could swim in the Perk again before it gets too cold but I might need shoulder surgery so swimming is out for now.
Beth, I can't believe how close the wedding is getting. You must be so excited?
Chuck, how was the shore?
Shelly, How is job hunting going?
Shannon, How is school and when are we going to see you again?
It is hard to believe that tri season is over. Where did the summer go?

Shoulder surgery?!??? How did I miss that? What happened, and what's the fix?

I just signed up to volunteer at Nation's, and booked a room (with 2 queen beds, hint hint), in downtown DC. I'm going down Saturday, Sept 13 and the race is Sunday, Sept 14.

My last races: Long Beach Island tri Sunday, Sept 21. Island Beach State Park "Dottie's Tri" Sunday, October 12... Both 1/4 mile ocean swims, 10 mi bike and 5K runs.

On the job front, I got assigned to the Police Dept and am working on an interesting project with some cool people, so I've the job hunt is not so urgent. The project is to get the forensics lab automated. Currently, each lab has their own way of tracking results so that if you want an entire case you need to get ahold of everyone and they need to pull together info from several places... Good work, huh?

Bernadette... what's up with the shoulder surgery?

Dave.. good luck with the soccer season... kick some a$$ (does that mean I have to do jumping jacks?)

Beth... stay sane with the wedding plans!!

Thrill of victory... running 20 miles yesterday!! YEAH!! (WHOA... was it painful at the end)

Agony of defeat... being clipped by a car today while bike riding... the bike seems okay... will take it in tomorrow for a check-up... I am bruised and have some road rash. =(

Hopefully a swim tomorrow will make it all better!

Shannon, DC is too dangerous. You need to move back to Philly!

B - I hope your shoulder is OK. Why surgery?

D - I would have had to do a bunch of jumping jacks in T2 at Marlton...as I was dismounting my bike with both feet unclipped, I accidentally clipped my left shoe back in. NOT FUN. I didn't completely topple over but enough that I have some new scratches on top of the old ones. I would have had a much better time, too, if I wasn't falling over my bike and cursing!

I do believe the run was shorter than 3 miles last year because I would have had the same or better time this year if the course was marked the same. I don't think I was running a 9 min mile last year either... But all in all, I had fun and even though my time doesn't show it, I had a better race this year.

Wedding planning is going great. I am way ahead of schedule! I just have to get my dress over to be cleaned and pressed and I have to find out how long that takes... Once my wedding event coordinator gets back to me, I can start working on place cards, too. It's getting there!

The girls had a great time at the beach. There were moments of fun for myself too, but those girls keep me on my toes. I was able to read the newspaper, but did not get a chance to read any books as I was getting water for sandcastles, digging holes in the sand, walking down to the water, getting snacks...my next vacation will includes fruity drinks and sitting down!

I did worse this year than compared to last year at Marlton. My swim and run were both significantly slower. I think the biggest problem with the swim was that my left goggle filled up immediately with water. Maggie had used my googles and I was trying to adjustment them correctly when the swim started (disadvantage with being first wave)I tried to swim with one eye but kept finding myself heading in the wrong direction. It took 2/3 of the swim to get them on correctly. I haven't run much in the month of August and I could tell by the time we got that part of the race.

I am going to start running again now that the tri season is over. There is a running clinic at the BMRC on the 14th that the Philadelphia Tri Club is putting together and I think I am going to go to that. Anything to take my 10 min/miles to 8 min/miles (my goal for next season).

We head to the beach one more time this weekend (Beach Haven-free house-Yahoo!)and have trips planned for the last weekend in September. Maggie starts her cheerleading next weekend and that runs through November, so my Friday/Saturday/Sunday schedule tightens up a bit. Plus, I have to leave time to watch the Eagles and Penn State.

I have a bone spur that I really aggrivated with swimming, running and biking. It got worse as the tri season went on so now I'm paying for the abuse. Sounds like Marlton was fun.
Shannon are you ok?
Beth, The wedding is coming so quickly, I;m so excited for you. Are you OK? You can't have bruises for the wedding.
Shelly, Glad to hear about the new job.
Chuck, I remember those vacations were all I did was count to four, build sand castles, get juice, make sandwihches etc... Those were great days.
