Figured this may need its own post... here is what I 'heard' today about food/drink for next Sunday... Beth-- please add whatever you desire...
Chuck: alcohol
Maddens: plates/utensils, random munchies (nothing that needs to be chilled etc).
Michaelle: box o' meat, salad of some sort
Shannon: box o' meat, salads, dessert (?)
I also have water and am sure I will have some sort of soda/juice for mi madre... Michaelle--let's coordinate on meat products... I am guessing since I live close to the race site... it will be easiest to just run home and get things... requests would be lovely if folks have them... =)
What have I missed?

I have to figure out what I'm bringing...since I can stop at home on my way to the perk house. (That's where we'll be, right?) If so, I already left a package of hotdogs and buns there. Please use them!
I think I can bring a bag of Doritos. How about dessert? I'll probably make a fruit tart. And I can make chocolate peanut butter bars. Both are easier than the peanut butter pie and more conducive to a picnic-type atmosphere.
Bernadette, if you still have that s'mores stuff from Black Bear, you should bring it! Chuck has the perfect fire pit!
Chuck - thanks for letting us swim yesterday. Sorry I missed everyone but I had a full day planned and had to get there early. The leaves were freaking me out the whole time, so I guess it was good practice if it rains before our race.
I think that I speak for the Aunt/Uncle that they are happy to know that the Perk is being utilized. There was about 10 years (family squabbles)in which they were pretty much vacant. While my uncle worked on restoring the places, nobody came. They have four kids and probably a dozen grandkids who may come up once a year. It wasn't until my sister started to come up and I returned from Texas did things turn around. As you all can see, the kids seem to enjoy themselves too. I also appreciate that team all pitches in to help out with the food and cleanup.
Beth-what was determined yesterday was that the Maddens and me will head to the Perk after the race, as driving home is kind of out of the way. Also, if your family/friends are coming to the race, they are more than welcome to join us afterwards too. Just post the headcount. I guess if there will be bad weather on Sunday we will come up with a plan B.
We didn't have any leaves in the afternoon swim. Just small children and water cannons.
The hot dogs and buns are no longer available. Apparently with the storms both houses lost power for four days (apparently we aren't priority customers for PECO). Ziggy and the fish all appreciate the additional food.
Coolio... I have Beth bringing dessert (kudos on the non-chocolate option with the fruit tart!!) =)
I think we are practically all set for food... as long as folks are cool with the list so far... add any suggestions or updates!
Darn. That was good hard-earned money that I spent on those hotdogs! Oh well.
OK - so I'm set for dessert. I don't know if anyone is coming at this time, but I'll post it if it's going to be more than just Eric and me.
Sorry about the hotdogs. I will suggest to the Perk BOD that we install a backup power system to avoid such catastrophes in the future.
Chuck, a simple generator-backed UPS system would be sufficient. Not alot of power required, just enough wattage for the refrigerators.
Anyone else feeling like either the tri should have happened already or it should be in about 3 weeks?
It's quiet this week. Where is everyone?
Enjoying the amazing, humid and heat free weather... =)
Actually... spent the last two days finishing up my work for my advisor... no fun! Can't believe that the race is this weekend... I am waiting to get all pumped and excited...
I am off to The Sadie Tanner Mossell Alexander University of Pennsylvania Partnership School's 8th grade graduation (yes, that's the name of the school) as my final job for my dissertation advisor... she needs to show up with a posse... =)
have fun! Don't go hog wild around the 8th graders!
I should really do my long run tonight but I don't have time. We have dance lessons and invitations to order. Ugh!
It is hot here in thexas. Ran this morning... 80's and humid. Going for a swim tonight at community pool. Couple of more days till the race. Ready to go now.
So - I am going to learn the foxtrot, the rumba, swing, and the cha cha. Look out!
We got the invitations ordered, too. Whew! That was an ordeal. The first woman to help us looked like she was 80 and couldn't see and started copying the wrong text onto the order form so I pretty much moved her out of the way and took over. Then the owner of the shop came over (thank goodness!) and helped us with the rest of the order.
I don't know about you, but I am tired! I swam last night for 45 minutes and then took spinning today. I just didn't feel like being in that spin class! I am going to do my long run tomorrow and then rest Friday and Saturday. I'm looking forward to Sat/Sun!
Does anyone think it's bad if I don't do a long run today? My legs feel like lead. Maybe I'll just do a shorter run to keep them loose.
Chuck - how was your swim in TX?
Not too great. 100 degrees otside and the water was in high 80's. Heavy clorine. Another hot day today. May run when the sun goes down.
If your legs feel crappy, I would skip the 'long run'... at this point you are running, biking, swimming just to keep your muscles/nerves up to date on each of the sports... no training is going to make a positive impact on Sunday, but you could have a negative impact--- injury, overuse, being tired. I would do a slow jog for 30 minutes or so... stretch and relax... your training these past multiple months is going to make the difference on Sunday... all of us are more than ready...
I HOPE so! If it weren't for you pushing us to do 6 miles on the path, I don't think I'd be ready for the run. But we'll all be fine. I know that much! I'll just take it easy on the run.
Bernadette, are you ready for the sprint?
I think I'm ready, ran some, biked some and swam in my sisters pool to get used to my wet suit. Having mini panic attacks when I think about the swim but otherwise I'm ok. Ladies when you wear a wet suit what do you wear underneath? Bathing suit, one piece tri suit, shirt and shorts? If we don't see you at the expo saturday afternoon will see you at the hotel for dinner.
Shannon, What did I say I was bringing? Besides paper products I don't remember what else. Thanks
Bernadette - We should talk more. I think you were sitting next to me when you type your question to the blog. I could have showed you the list.
Maddens: plates/utensils, random munchies (nothing that needs to be chilled etc).
Love you.
You two are too cute!
Bernadette - I wear my racing clothes under the wetsuit - tri shorts, sports bra, and singlet. You can wear your one-piece suit under the wetsuit and be all set!
I'll be at the expo tonight and pasta party tomorrow night. Since I'm hogging the whole weekend, I promised I'd help Eric with stuff around the house tomorrow...and then we're trying out a place for the rehearsal dinner for lunch. (I'll also be baking the desserts.) :)
Bernadette - GOOD LUCK tomorrow! You'll be great!!!
p.s. Chuck - you didn't miss much on the call. Stuff you already know...except that we have to be at the Crowne Plaza by 5:30 to set up the red carpet and you are to keep that a surprise for your mentees.
I think Eric is going to come to the race with me so do you still want to carpool? If you drive to the pasta party, I can drive to the race. Let me know.
I like Beth wear my race 'stuff' under the wetsuit... tri shorts, top, sports bra etc... putting clothes on after swimming can be a pain... what did you wear under the wetsuit at Blackbear?
I loved the double posting by the Maddens... =) (hehe)
You are going to ROCK at the swim, bike and run tomorrow Bernadette! =) I am scheduled to body mark in the morning and work swim exit after that... so hopefully I will see you at multiple locations!
Beth covered the conference call... Amy also has an extra top if you want it Chuck...
Off to clean... parents are on the road from NC... better get my act in gear before they arrive! =)
Heading back home today. Leaving now and should be home tonight at 8pm. I s anybody else going to the 11 am mandatory meeting tomorrow? Bernadette, I will see you in the transition area tomorrow morning.
We can talk about transportation on Saturday.
thanks for your support everyone. You all are going to rock on Sunday. I wore my one piece tri suit at Black Bear but was trying out different outfits. Think I will wear it again this time because i haven't ound any thing else as comfortable. See you all at the Pasta party.
