All we need is a kayak

We could do an open water swim anywhere that there's river (or lake) access, if only we had a kayak for the "lifeguard." Of course, there would need to be kayak storage and transport. But it would mean more open water swim options, right?

I'm betting that Shannon goes back on Wednesday for the butt kicking. Anyone betting not?

And permission to swim... there are lots of bodies of water that don't allow swimming... and some I imagine for good reason. Even nice lakes like Nockamixon is a none swimming lake (except at the open water clinics).

Since I just signed up for the 2009 70.3 Eagleman Half-Iron race on June 14... I am guessing I should go get my butt kicked on Wednesday. Registration opened today and will close rather quickly... hint, hint for other folks who want to race Eagleman! Dave... are you going to do Eagleman as a pre-Placid race?

I am sitting at my 'new' desk at work... I actually have nothing to do and was planning on going home, but the big boss wants to chat with me for a couple of minutes (lord knows why)... which means I have to sit here until that magical meeting happens. It's a strange feeling to have 'nothing' to do, but actually know I have a crap of load of work looming in the near future... such as life.

=)

Take it from someone who knows...enjoy that free time now! Catch up on some old triathlete magazines or the news on cnn.com. You don't realize you have time until it's gone.

Hi Shannon, Glad to see you are back up on-line. Should I do Eagleman or Black Bear again? Black Bear would prepare me more for the long hills at Lake Placid. I will ask my triathlon coach, oh I forgot, I don't have a triathlon coach. I will talk to Ken for his opinion.

Keep working hard at work and play!

Quick question... what's the word with SheRox? I know we have talked about it for a while.. played with the idea of a relay etc... what are people's plans? Just trying to work my marathon training out with the triathlons left for this year.

I'm out. Too expensive!

I'm going to volunteer for SheROX, but not do it. It's right between NJ State and Kings Grant (or Marlton, I can't remember).

Any exercise plans over the next few days? I miss our group workouts.

Who's coming to the celebration tomorrow night?

I signed up for the T3 yahoo group. They get pretty funny. There was a thread about advertisements for ironman condoms... something about working hard and playing hard, etc.

Shannon-are you going to do Eagleman and Philly tri next year?

Dave-I would do Blackbear again. It kicked my arse, but would be willing to try it a 2nd time.

I hope that everyone has a good 4th. I am heading to Pittsburgh tomorrow with the girls for the weekend. Taking the new bike and hope to put some miles on it.

I probably will do Philly and definitely am doing Eagleman... I don't think it would wise of me to do BlackBear right before the half... maybe I should check with the same coach that Dave uses... =)

I won't do SheRox since nobody else I know is doing it... and since I am no fan of Barb McKeever...I don't think I am volunteering for it either...

Off to swim practice... or at least I will head that way and see if I can think of any good excuses to not go!

Hey girls I'm doing She Rox. What other events are everyone doing this summer? Have a great 4th.

Bernadette... have you signed up already for SheRox? I am doing NJ State and Philly Women (clearly not in that order)... haven't decided about the others... maybe Kings Grant, Marlton and LBI... need to see what the marathon training looks like on those weekends.

Just got back from swim practice... tonight was more evil than Monday... here's what my group did tonight... the pool is 40yds each length (so 80yds round trip)... weird

Warm-Up: 400 free style; 4x 80 (40drill, 40swim)

6x200 (easy, medium, medium, fast, fast, easy)

6x240 (80 kick, 80 pull, 80 free style)

9 x 40 (fast, faster, fastest... repeat)

400 yds of mystery sprints (I liked mysteries and surprises until tonight)

.... in 1hr and 20minutes. The coach tonight gave good feedback as well, but was more serious than the chica on Monday night... the big test will be if I can move my arms tomorrow. The biggest challenge is swimming with other people... you can't slack!! =(

I signed up to volunteer at the Philly Women's Tri. I figure that I know of few of you who are participating and what else would I be doing at 7am.

Is anyone interested in doing the Annapolis Tri on September 7th? It is an Olympic length race.

Also, have a great holiday weekend!

Anyone going tonight?

I signed up for Annapolis last weekend.

Shannon, I already signed up for She Rox. Sounds like swimming has been pretty intense but are you having any fun? Does anyone know if the Annapolis bike is pretty hilly? The description of "challenging" hills mentioned on the race home page sounds kind of scary. Got an email today that the swim course for Philly Women's has changed from all down river to up river then across then down river. Sounds like same route as Philly tri sprint. Was looking forward to a down river swim only. Oh well. I did it once I'll do it again. Have a great 4th everyone.
